Under the Cherry trees

Cherry blossoms are Japan's unofficial flower.
They represent the ephemeral nature of life. They are an omen of good fortune and represent love and spring.March is the month of the Hanami,a practice that is many centuries old.
Hanami literally means "flower viewing" .In late march and early may Cherry blossoms bloom all over Japan and its tradition to gather with your family and friends to enjoy the beauty of  flowers. Aren't they gorgeous?

kimmidoll obsession

Lately I'm obsessed with Kimmidolls. They are a family of collectable japanese Kokeshi dolls.
The brand kimmidoll has dolls, stationary, fashion accessories, home wares and gift wares.
There are four types of dolls:The minis, the maxis ,the extra maxi and the extra extra maxi. Each doll represent a life value like wisdom, love, friendship or Kindness and they are all made of resin.

Originally kokeshi dolls were given as gifts to newborn children as a lucky charm that will protect and grant them good health.kimmidolls are a modern version of those lucky charm dolls. They are super cute and they look lovely anywhere .So far, I have 5 of them but I will be for sure buying more in the near future.Hope you like them.

Ghibli Museum

Ghibli Museum is an amazing place. The museum shows the work of Studio Ghibli and was designed by Hayao Miyazaki himself.
The design of the building was influenced by European Architecture and its a part of the exhibit itself. If you are planning on visiting Japan soon I would totally recommend you to pay a visit to it.
The museum is located in Mitaka a city near Yokyo. You can travel there using the Japan Rail. The trip from Shinjuku station takes about 25 minutes.
At Mitaka station you can take a bus to the museum (fare:one-way 200 yen/round trip 300 yen-1/2 price for children under 12 years old).

Tickets to the museum must be purchased in advance but its really easy to find a local travel agency that sells them. The museum is closed on tuesdays so be careful when making a reservation.
At the bottom floor you will get the chance to see a short film  for free. This month they are screening Mr. Dough and the Egg Princess.

The Museum shop  "MAMMA AIUTO"(Mama help me)is located on the third floor and is called after the sky pirates in the movie "Porco Rosso".(the shop is usually super crowded so you'll have to be really patient to get what you want).

A huge Totoro welcomes you at the front door

The beautiful stained-glass windows

The Cat Bus

The robot on the roof

Near the museum there is a bakery called Toho bakery.Find it .You'll love it :)
