Ghibli Museum

Ghibli Museum is an amazing place. The museum shows the work of Studio Ghibli and was designed by Hayao Miyazaki himself.
The design of the building was influenced by European Architecture and its a part of the exhibit itself. If you are planning on visiting Japan soon I would totally recommend you to pay a visit to it.
The museum is located in Mitaka a city near Yokyo. You can travel there using the Japan Rail. The trip from Shinjuku station takes about 25 minutes.
At Mitaka station you can take a bus to the museum (fare:one-way 200 yen/round trip 300 yen-1/2 price for children under 12 years old).

Tickets to the museum must be purchased in advance but its really easy to find a local travel agency that sells them. The museum is closed on tuesdays so be careful when making a reservation.
At the bottom floor you will get the chance to see a short film  for free. This month they are screening Mr. Dough and the Egg Princess.

The Museum shop  "MAMMA AIUTO"(Mama help me)is located on the third floor and is called after the sky pirates in the movie "Porco Rosso".(the shop is usually super crowded so you'll have to be really patient to get what you want).

A huge Totoro welcomes you at the front door
